Billy Graham hosted one of his crusades in the Dome's first year of operation. Although all the shows sold out, the concerts were cancelled because of the performer's serious health problems. ![]() Michael Jackson was scheduled to perform three concerts there on October 31 and November 1 and 2, 1988, during his Bad Tour. ![]() During this performance, drummer Tommy Lee realized his dream of playing a drum solo upside down in a 360-degree rotating cage. Mötley Crüe performed at the Tacoma Dome on October 15, 1987, as part of their Girls, Girls, Girls Tour. The Tacoma Dome also hosted National Hockey League preseason exhibition games in 1983, 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996.īon Jovi filmed portions of their music video for the song "Lay Your Hands on Me" during their show at the Dome. It was the site of the NCAA Division I-AA football championship game in 19. The dome also hosted the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship in back-to-back years (19). It can also host American football, albeit with seating reduced to 10,000. Unlike most other arenas of its size, the arena contains little in the way of fixed seating, so as to maximize the flexibility of the seating arrangements and the shape of the playing field. I can see why this event was no where near half as full as previous years. The wood which was used to make the roof came from trees that were downed in the 1980 eruption of Mount St. To pay that amount and not be able to touch my kid is unexcuseable. The amount of money I spent to watch and park my car was ridiculous. I will never attend an event at that place ever again. Nowhere was safe from your incredibly rude staff. Then when I was finally allowed to touch and speak to my child we were harassed yet again by your staff for speaking to each other. They were inconsistent of whom they would allow to pass. Your remodel/new floor is not worth having kids in there alone with their parents not able to get to them. This is the first year you have separated parents from their children. They were rude, confrontational, antagonistic, and for some reason they all feel entitled to speak to your guests however they feel. After attending this event over 5 years consistently this year by far was the worst due to your staff. Over the past 4 days our children played at the Tacoma Dome for basketball. ![]()
